MISSOULA — We continue to profile the nominees for student-athlete of the year at the KPAX Sports Awards Banquet with another Missoula Big Sky Eagle, Madison Edwards.

The track and cross country standout broke the Eagles’ school records in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs. She finished third and fourth in those two races at last year’s State AA meet and hopes to better those marks in a couple weeks.

Edwards also owns an impressive 3.94 GPA, and she’s ready to chase new horizons after high school graduation.

“I’ll be running cross country and track at the Air Force Academy next year,” said Edwards. “I’m excited to get the cool experiences that not a lot of college kids get to do, like flying gliders and jumping out of a plane. I really liked the team, and just the opportunities you get at the Air Force are really unique.”

Edwards, the rest of our nominees, and three very deserving adults will be honored at the KPAX Sports Awards Banquet. Missoula native and current Central Michigan football coach Jim McElwain will come back home as our guest speaker. Join us at the Hilton Garden Inn next Wednesday, May 15.
