Conrad boys, Shelby girls win Class B Division 1 golf tournaments

WOLF POINT — Jarek Shepard took top medalist honors and teammates Blake Vandenacre and Brady Bokma finished in the top four to help lead the Conrad boys to the team title at the Class B Division 1 golf tournament at the Airport Golf Club on Tuesday.

Shepard paced the field with a 77, one stroke ahead of Vandenacre in second. Bokma’s 85 placed him in a tie for fourth with Choteau’s Trenton Durocher. The Bulldogs also got a sixth-place finish from Kyler Crabtree to finish second in the team standings.

Shelby’s Wyatt Brusven placed third with an 83 to help the Coyotes to a third-place team finish.

Conrad finished with 331 strokes to run away with the team trophy. Choteau (365 strokes) was second, followed by Shelby (379) and Fairfield (393).

Shelby’s Skyler Martin fired an 80 to lead the girls’ field. Teammates Kendall Anderson and Reese Whitted both shot 88s to help the Coyotes cruise to the team title with 356 strokes. Poplar (412 strokes) was second, just ahead of Glasgow (418) and Choteau (429).

Along with Anderson and Whitted, Fairfield’s Emma Woods also shot an 88 at the Airport Golf Club. Kate Murack of Conrad recorded a 91 to finish fifth.

The top 15 individual placers and the top four teams advance to the Class B state golf tournament, which is scheduled for May 14-15 at Missoula.
