HELENA — The Helena Capital girls cross country program has a new head coach.
Anna Doran was named the head coach of the Bruins on Tuesday, according to a release from Helena activities director Tim McMahon.
A former Missoula Hellgate and University of Montana cross country and track and field athlete, Anna Doran (nee Hurd), has continued a career in running, both individually and as a coach. Upon graduation, she moved to Oregon and became a teacher and cross country coach. Since moving to Helena, Doran has been involved in the Vigilante Running Club and was the assistant girls cross country coach at Helena High last fall.
The Helena High girls placed fourth at the State AA cross country meet this fall, with freshman Kylie Hartnett finishing No. 7 overall.
“Coach Doran brings a wealth of knowledge to the program at Capital High,” McMahon said in the release.
A career center counselor at Capital, Doran has consistently continued to compete in races of varying distances.
