BILLINGS – The State AA soccer tournaments will have plenty of fans from Billings.
All six Billings AA teams will play in the state tournaments next week in Helena, after Billings West swept Butte Friday to earn the final two Eastern AA seeds.
West’s boys beat Butte 3-0 on goals from Riley Krueger-Harding, Hayden Benztel, and Kaleb Vestel. Krueger-Harding broke a 0-0 tie with a late first-half goal in the 38th minute, while Bentzel doubled the lead from the penalty spot midway through the second.
West and Butte’s girls were scoreless at halftime, but Emma Lensing and Nichole Unsworth scored back-to-back goals within minutes of each other early in the second half to give the Bears a 2-0 win.
Both West teams will be the No. 3 seeds at the State AA tournaments, which begin Thursday.
