BILLINGS – Weslen Jones buried his head in his hands after missing a wide-open shot from 10 yards out near the end of the first half Thursday. Luckily for Billings Skyview, he more than made up for it to start the second.

Jones broke a 0-0 tie in the 42nd minute, and the Falcons added two more second-half goals to beat Great Falls CMR 3-0 in an Eastern AA playoff game and advance to the State AA soccer tournament for just the second time in 10 years.

Ethan Johnson and Aidan Morgan scored the other goals for Skyview, as the Falcons finally broke through against a Rustlers team they couldn’t beat in the regular season. CMR won the first meeting in the series, 3-1, and then the two teams played to a 1-1 draw Monday at Amend Park in the rescheduled final game before the playoffs.

Skyview joins Billings Senior as Magic City representatives at State. Billings West will play Butte Friday for the final Eastern AA berth.
