GREAT FALLS – The Great Falls High and Butte soccer teams played Class AA state playoff games at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday. The winners would go on to play Billings West on Friday.
The Butte boys defeated Great Falls High 1-0. The Bison had plenty of early shots on goal throughout the game, but none worked in the team’s favor. A goal late in the contest by Butte’s Justin McNabb sealed Butte’s first win of the year, and the team will move on.
The Butte girls won, as well, earning their first win of the year with a 2-1 victory. The Bison broke out in front first 1-0 with an early goal from Macie McElhenney, but Butte’s Christiana Beierle delivered a strike for a goal off a corner kick to tie the game at 1-1. A goal late in the contest by Ally Cleverly sealed a 2-1 win for Butte. The Bulldog girls also move on to play West.
