GREAT FALLS – The Great Falls High soccer teams welcomed in Butte on a rainy afternoon on Thursday. The Bison boys won in a narrow 1-0 victory, with the lone goal being scored by Zach Langel. But the story of the game was about keeper Liam Toner and defender Judah McAdam.

Toner had a brilliant game with incredible saves again and again throughout the game, keeping the Bulldogs at bay. But one play Toner came out too far from the goalie box and before he had time to recover, Jake Vetter had a shot on an open goal. At the last second, McAdam put himself in front of the goal, lifted his left leg and blasted the ball away for the save of the game.

“Defense played unbelievable, they stayed composed and worked as a team. That was a great save from (McAdam) that saved a for-sure goal,” said Great Falls High head coach Gavin Groshelle. “The end of the game was just us hanging on by the entire team. It was a great win for us.”

For the girls game, Butte took a 3-2 lead late into the game, but a Great Falls High goal tied the score and the game would end 3-3. The Bison were led by sophomore Macie McElhenney, who finished with a hat trick.
