HELENA — Aisley Allen scored two goals, while Ashley McElmurry added a goal and an assist as the Missoula Sentinel girls defeated Helena Capital 3-1 in Western AA soccer action on Tuesday. The Spartans improved to 3-1-2 in league play. The Bruins fell to 1-4-1.

McElmurry opened the scoring at the 10-minute mark, taking advantage of an Allen assist as the Spartans went up 1-0. Sentinel increased the lead minutes later when Allen scored her first goal off a Brit Burman assist.

Helena Capital’s Megan Lindbo scored the only goal for Capital near the 21-minute mark in the contest. McElmurry found Allen for the final score of the game, with the savvy junior connecting from right of goal, though “that wasn’t meant to be a shot,” she joked with teammates after.

Sentinel hosts Helena High (2-2-2) next Tuesday, Sept. 25. Helena Capital travels to Missoula Hellgate the same afternoon.

Tuesday’s boys contest saw Sentinel’s Cole Reimer net a hat trick, with two goals in the opening half, as the Spartans earned a 5-1 victory over the Bruins.

Following a Sam Olsen score that gave Sentinel a 1-0 advantage, Reimer scored the first of his three goals on a header in the left corner, beating teammate Bryan Tower (Eporu) for the score. Reimer showcased his dribbling skills on his next goal, working through the Capital defense  for a cross-goal score and a 3-0 Spartans lead.

Capital was awarded a penalty kick after time expired in the first half, with Sentinel drawing a pair of yellow cards. Caleb Hoxie drilled the PK to put the Bruins on the board, but Reimer completed his hat trick in the second half, while Finn Krutek netted a score of his own to round out the scoring.

Sentinel improves to 5-2-0 with the win and hosts Helena High on Sept. 25. Capital (2-3-1) is scheduled for a 3 p.m. game at Missoula Hellgate that afternoon.
