GREAT FALLS — One of the biggest cross country meets of the season hit the Anaconda Hills Friday afternoon, with a twist on the traditional meet format.
Instead of one girls race and one boys race, the Great Falls Invite was split into eight smaller races. Small schools ran with the Class AA junior varsity teams, and AA varsity teams were split into groups of three or four for a smaller race intended to give runners a different experience.
But even with the different format, the results tilted heavily in favor of powerhouse Bozeman.
Terra Trom (19 minutes, 19.85 seconds) posted the fastest varsity time for the Hawks, as Bozeman swept the top three places in the girls race.
Bozeman claimed five of the top seven times in the boys race, as well, with junior Griffin May posting the best overall time of 17:12.54.
