Billings swimmers earn medals at USA Futures meet

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Two members of the Billings Aquatic Club earned medals at the USA Swimming Futures meet in Santa Clara, California over the weekend.

Peter Thompson finished second in the 1,500-meter Freestyle and qualified for the USA Swimming Junior Nationals in the process, while Jack Leuthold finished third in the 800-meter Freestyle. Futures is one step below Junior Nationals in the USA Swimming hierarchy.

Leuthold finished sixth in the 1,500 Freestyle, also hitting the Junior Nationals qualifying standard, and finished sixth in the 400 Freestyle, as well.

Rylee O’Neil finished ninth in the 400-meter Individual Medley, one second off of making the Junior National cut. Michael Van Keuren, meanwhile, finished 14th in the 200-meter Butterfly, finishing just 0.1 seconds above the Junior Nationals mark.
