MISSOULA — Missoula Big Sky quarterback Colter Janacaro is following in his brother's footsteps by committing to the University of Montana football program.

Janacaro made the announcement via Twitter on Friday night.

The dual-threat quarterback threw and ran for more than 1,000 yards each and found the end zone 25 times last season.

Janacaro was also a key piece for the Eagles' defense as a linebacker, racking up 40 total tackles and four sacks.

While Janacaro impressed in high school, he knows there's a lot of work to be done before seeing time in an NCAA game, and he's been able to lean on his older brother, Levi Janacaro, for advice. Levi Janacaro is currently a redshirt sophomore on the Griz football team.

"I've talked to Levi about it a lot, too," said Colter. "Just told me about the process and I'm just going to have to work hard, I guess, to try to see playing time in the next few years. I'm totally ready and totally committed to getting to that point."

Colter Janacaro earned all-state honors on both sides of the ball in 2020.

Levi Janacaro was also the quarterback for the Eagles before graduating in 2018 and joining the Griz football program.
