GREAT FALLS – The Roy-Winifred girls basketball team trailed Box Elder for most of the game but dominated the fourth quarter to claim a Northern C divisional title with a 51-45 win.

Both teams will head to the State C tournament in Great Falls next weekend, since consolation winner Belt could not challenge Box Elder for the second seed after losing to the Bears on Wednesday.

The Outlaws’ post players were the difference. Dyauni Boyce scored 18 points to lead all scorers and hauled in 12 rebounds. Freshman Madeline Heggem scored eight points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds. Trinity Edwards added 17 points.

Sarah Parisian and Lilly Gopher led Box Elder with 11 points each.

Box Elder led 36-32 entering the fourth quarter, but Roy-Winifred outscored the Bears 19-9 in the final frame for the final outcome.

The Outlaws will enter the State C tournament as the No. 1 seed out of the North, while Box Elder will enter as the No. 2 seed for the second year in a row. The Bears claimed the program’s second Class C title last year and can make it back-to-back titles next weekend.

For the second year in a row, Belt won the consolation final with a 50-26 win over Turner only to see its season end with a Box Elder loss in the championship game.
