BILLINGS – So far, so good for the two top seeds at the Eastern A girls divisional tournament.

Havre and Laurel each won first round games at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark Wednesday afternoon, advancing to Friday’s semifinals.

Glendive gave the Blue Ponies a test. The Red Devils led 16-11 early in the second quarter before Havre closed the half on a 19-2 run to take a 30-18 lead.

Glendive got as close as five early in the fourth quarter, but Havre scored six points in 45 seconds to go up 44-31 with under four minutes to play. Havre went on to win, 46-35.

Kyndall Keller and Kadia Miller led the Blue Ponies with 12 points each, though Havre only shot 34.7 percent as a team. The key was turnovers – Havre forced 26, led by six steals from Sadie Filius.
