DEER LODGE – Three Forks and Deer Lodge clashed on the hardwood in a boys and girls doubleheader in Deer Lodge on Friday night.

The boys played first, and Three Forks had a clear size advantage, forcing the wardens to play a 2-3 zone all game to counter. Deer Lodge kept things interesting and even carried a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to Judd Applegate and Dyllon McDermid. The Wolves turned it up out of halftime, pushing their 26-24 lead to 32-24 within two minutes. The Wolves were led by Payden Lynn, who did a bit of everything for them on the night. In the end, Three Forks ran away with the game and won by a final of 60-43.

In the girls game, the Wardens and Wolves were both looking to boost their playoff resumes. It was an evenly matched contest all game long. The Wardens jumped out early on a Kamryn Scully 3 and great defense and transition game from Rachel Nicholson. The Wolves clawed their way back in thanks to some swift passing and open looks down low to Breanna Bloch. Deer Lodge was not going to let a school come in and sweep it on its home court, as it went on town by a final of 47-38. Both Warden squads will be back in action tomorrow on the road against St. Ignatius.
