BILLINGS — Billings West’s basketball girls had doubled Billings Senior’s score by halftime on a frigid Tuesday night, increased it in the third quarter, but then had to fight off a Broncs rally before earning a 62-43 road win.
TyRaa Manuel proved to be the early spark for West, capping a 13-point first half on a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left. West led 30-15 at the break.
The Bears opened a 19-point lead in the third quarter before Senior answered on a 19-6 run that closed the gap to 45-39 in the fourth quarter. The Broncs would forge to within four before West regained a double-digit lead.
The victory vaults West back into a tie with Butte (7-1 conference, 10-3 overall) for the Eastern AA lead at 7-1 in conference and 13-1 overall. The Bears’ only loss this season was last month at Butte, 48-46.
Senior falls to 4-10, 3-5.
