COLUMBUS – The Columbus Cougars took a 22-15 lead into halftime and survived a second half rally from Roundup to grab the 40-37 victory.
Payton West bounced home a triple at the second quarter buzzer and the Cougars went into the locker room with all of the momentum and a seven-point lead.
Roundup came out of the halftime gates with a clear and obvious plan. The Panthers attacked the hoop at every opportunity possible and the Panthers cut the deficit to four points.
Columbus answered right back. The Cougars were able to go on a 6-0 run and took their largest lead of the game at 28-18.
The Panthers kept pounding and kept it close but could never get over the hump, as Columbus held on for the Friday night win.
