MISSOULA — Missoula Loyola freshman Lani Walker is a two-sport standout on the soccer field and the basketball court.
This basketball season the Breakers fielded an extremely young team, but they haven’t seen many negative repercussions from it. They sit at 10-4 on the year and seem to be getting better every week.
Although Walker has been at the center of their offense, both her and head coach Travis Walker said it’s how the team is playing as a unit that makes them successful.
“It’s going to be fun for the next couple of years. It’s always fun to have a couple new girls on the team, especially me. It’s been fun so far this year,” Lani Walker said. “I think a lot of new faces have brought people some shock.”
“It’s been amazing. I mean, we have one senior, two juniors and the rest are sophomores and freshmen. Everyone has jelled,” said Travis Walker. “The older girls have been so supportive of the younger kids, and you wouldn’t expect anything else from Loyola. It’s a family feel, and that’s what these guys do.”
