BUTTE – The Butte Central girls basketball team heads into the final month of regular season action with high hopes.
The Maroons, who have one of the youngest rosters from top to bottom in all of Class A, have shown that they can compete with the best. There were a lot of questions about how the depth and youth of this team would affect their season, but, despite a couple minor setbacks, Butte Central looks to be in a better position than it thought it would be in.
“I really am quite surprised that we’ve done as well as we have lately,” said head coach Meg Murphy. “That was one of our goals at the beginning of the season: to get better every week. And I think our kids have shown their resilience and their willingness not to quit even when they’re down. They continue to battle, they play hard, they work hard every game. For me, they’re really a joy to coach, because they go out and work so hard.”
