BELT – The Belt basketball teams welcomed in Winnett-Grass Range on Friday.
For the girls game, it was a matchup between two of the top teams in District 8C. But Belt held strong the entire game and came away with a 53-33 victory. The Lady Huskies were led by Morgan Cooper, who had a game-high 22 points and five 3-point shots. Shelby Paulson and Kolby Pimperton picked up 12 points each. Sydney Browning led the Lady Rams with 20 points.
The win brings the Huskies to 10-1 on the year and 6-1 in conference play. The loss drops Winnett-Grass Range to 8-3 and 5-3 in conference.
It was much closer in the boys contest, but the Huskies had a slim lead the entire game and never gave it up, winning 52-44. Belt’s Brendan Wing and Hunter Vogl picked up 16 points each, Kaimen Evans had 13. Jacob Jessen led the Rams with 13 points while Charlie Keith finished with 11.
Belt is now 9-2 on the year and 6-1 in conference play. With the loss, Winnett-Grass Range drops to 6-4 and 3-4 in conference.
