LAUREL – Laurel’s basketball girls avenged one of their only two losses this season on Thursday night, 48-33 at home over Columbus.
The Locomotives (9-2) jumped out to a 20-3 lead in the second quarter and never looked back. They led 26-12 at halftime and 38-19 after three quarters.
The Cougars had beaten Laurel 33-32 in Columbus on Dec. 14.
In the nightcap, Nick Pasquarelo scored half of Laurel’s points in the first half as the Locomotives built a 24-12 lead over Columbus at the break, then cruised to a 40-25 win.
Colter Bales added a two-handed jam in the third quarter, helping build Laurel’s lead to 31-16.
Both Laurel teams host Hardin a week from Friday on Jan. 25. The girls’ game is set for 6 p.m., with the boys to follow at 7:30.
