FORT BENTON – One of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season went down in Fort Benton on Friday. The undefeated Longhorns girls basketball team went up against undefeated Box Elder. The Lady Bears came away with a 78-63 victory.
Lilly Gopher and Montana Griz commit Joelnell Momberg accounted for more than 50 combined points. Gopher led all scorers with 35 points, including six 3-pointers, and Momberg finished with 22 points. Aspen Giese led Fort Benton with 20 points and Leah Gannon finished with 16.
The Fort Benton boys were also undefeated going into the game against Box Elder and came out unscathed with a 43-31 victory.
