Butte girls run away from Missoula Big Sky, 68-35

MISSOULA – The Butte Bulldogs picked up their first win of the girls basketball season on Tuesday night, and Missoula Big Sky couldn’t start a winning streak. Butte beat the Eagles 68-35.

The win improves Butte to 1-1, while Big Sky falls to 1-3.

Butte quickly jumped out to an 8-2 lead after a 3-pointer by Brittney Tierney. Big Sky came back with a 7-0 run, capped off by a triple from Chasity Foote. Butte responded with another run. Aspen Lovshin hit a 3-pointer right before the buzzer to put the Bulldogs up 17-11 after one quarter.

The momentum continued for Butte after that point, and Big Sky only managed 24 points over the final three quarters. Butte’s lead expanded to 35-19 at halftime, and 47-25 after three quarters. The Bulldogs then erupted for 21 points in the final quarter to turn the game into a rout.
