BUTTE – Tuesday was the opening night for the Butte Bulldogs and Helena Bengals girls basketball teams, and to add to the hype of the first game of the season, the game was played at the Butte Civic Center.
Helena, the two-time defending Class AA girls state champion, showed that it will be solid contenders for a third in a row. Jamie Pickens scored 10 points, but more impressively the future Montana Grizzly nabbed 17 rebounds. Butte’s Ally Cleverly and Aspen Lovshin both had 10 points to lead the way for the Bulldogs.
Butte High will have a week to prepare for its next game on the road against Missoula Big Sky next Tuesday.
