CUSTER — The Blue team scored first and last, but Team Red pulled off the nail-biting 6-Man All-Star Game win Saturday night, 33-32 in Custer.

AJ Ullmer hit Cobe Begger with a 25-yard touchdown strike, helping the Blue to an 8-0 lead. But the Red answered with Brady Duvall’s 13-yard pass to Mavrick McKinlay, although the kick failed to make it 8-6.

Blue led 16-6 after one quarter of play, but Red took its first lead on the last play of the half when McKinlay corralled an 11-yard touchdown pass from Lane Lerum. Red led 18-16 at break after the kick was blocked, and never trailed again.

Red stretched its lead to 25-16 on Caleb Hess’ 11-yard scoring run in the third quarter, but Ullmer and Begger connected again from eight yards to draw Blue within 25-24 after three.

With under seven minutes to play, Duvall found Jake Solomon wide open on a 30-yard strike for Red’s last score of the game and a 33-24 lead.

Ullmer kept hopes alive for the Blue on a 26-yard touchdown run with 46 seconds left. Levi Brubaker’s PAT closed the gap to 33-32.

McKinlay recovered the onside kick for Red, which ran out the clock to avenge last year’s 70-27 loss.
