BUTTE — Saturday night was the picture-perfect evening for football as the 2019 Bob Cleverley 8-Man All-Star Game kicked off at Bob Green Field in Butte.
Team Red looked to get some revenge after falling to team Blue 56-18 in last year’s contest. Saturday night was a slow start for both teams as defense and turnovers dominated the first quarter. But the offense fired up for Team Blue when Arlee’s Lane Schall dialed one deep to the game’s offensive MVP Dylan Parks of Darby for a 60-yard touchdown pass to give the Blue team an 8-0 lead, following a two-point conversion midway through the first.
Team Red stopped the momentum temporarily after Great Falls Central’s Ethan Vincent and Shelby’s Wyatt Brusven recorded back-to-back interceptions to keep it a one-score ball game.
But after that the game started to turn in favor of Team Blue. In the second quarter, Circle’s Grady Taylor found Parks for an 87-yard touchdown, his second of the contest, which made it 20-0 Team Blue.
In the second half Team Blue’s defense only allowed one touchdown, and Charlo’s Landers Smith connected with Arlee’s Chase Gardner for a score to seal the game.
Team Blue rolled to another win in the Bob Cleverley 8-Man All-Star Game with a 32-7 win.
