BILLINGS — Class AA co-offensive MVP Jesse Owens will continue his football career at the University of Montana.

The 5-foot-9, 175-pound senior wide receiver announced his commitment to play for the Grizzlies on his Twitter account on Sunday, which MTN Sports independently confirmed.

Owens helped Billings West to the Class AA state championship in November, scoring two touchdowns in the Golden Bears’ 20-14 win over Kalispell Flathead. Owens, recognized for his highlight-reel catches this season, finished the year with 71 receptions for 1,126 yards and 17 total touchdowns, 13 through the air. He earned first-team all-state honors at both receiver and cornerback but wrote in a Twitter post that he’s committed to play receiver at UM.

Owens also had interest from Montana State and considered pursuing college basketball. He averaged 15.2 points, 3.0 assists and 2.1 steals per game for West last season.
