The Fairfield Eagles are the 2018 Class B State Champions, defeating Missoula Loyola on Saturday, 30-13. The Eagles finished a perfect 12-0 on the year and it’s the program’s fourth state title. One of the best storylines from Missoula was Les and Ryder Meyer, as the father-son duo played their last game together for the program and went out on top.
“Obviously it’s something that I’ll be able to share, my wife and I will be able to share this with Ryder,” said head coach Les Meyer. “We were able to win it all with my oldest son (Tucker) when he was a junior. It’s obviously a special time to be able to cap it off with Ryder in the final game.”
“We’re such a tight-knit group. We just have fun playing together, it’s just a blast out here,” said Ryder Meyer, a senior. “Playing for my dad, too, probably won’t ever play for him again, so that’s a surreal feeling, too. For it to be his and mine’s last game together is something pretty special.”
