CHARLO — Charlo, which had compiled a 6-1 record on the 8-Man football fields this season, will forfeit its place in the 8-Man state playoffs.

The Vikings would have been the No. 2 seed in the 8-Man West, but they had to forfeit last week’s game against Darby after suspending a number of players. As of Tuesday, Charlo had planned to play its regular-season finale against Seeley-Swan, but the suspensions and injuries throughout the rest of the week limited the Vikings to seven available players for Friday’s scheduled game, leading them to forfeit that game, as well. The school then made the decision to forfeit its place in the playoffs.

Charlo coach Mike Krahn, who confirmed the forfeiture, declined further comment.

Defending state champion Drummond-Philipsburg is the West’s No. 1 seed for the playoffs. Arlee defeated Alberton-Superior, 56-52, Friday to clinch the No. 2 seed. Alberton-Superior will be the No. 3 seed, and Darby is the West’s fourth and final seed after defeating St. Ignatius, 56-28, on Friday.
