There’s a new No. 1-ranked team in the MontanaSports.com high school football polls.

Fairfield takes over the top spot in the Class B rankings, replacing Bigfork, which suffered its first loss of the season to Missoula Loyola on Friday. The Rams moved up to third in the rankings, one place ahead of Bigfork. Roundup is second, and Colstrip is fifth after the Colts handed Big Timber its first loss of the season on Friday. Big Timber fell from the top five into the receiving votes category.

The No. 1-ranked teams — Bozeman, Billings Central, Drummond-Philipsburg and Wibaux — remained in the other four classifications. In fact, the Class AA and Class A polls didn’t see any changes.

Shelby was the big mover in the 8-Man rankings, climbing this week to No. 3 after its win over Great Falls Central. The Mustangs fell to fifth. Grass Range-Winnett was the 6-Man beneficiary of Richey-Lambert’s loss to Wibaux. The Rangers are now third, behind Wibaux and Geraldine-Highwood, and the Fusion fourth. Hot Springs rounds out the 6-Man rankings.

The full rankings, which are determined by the MTN Sports team, are below. Teams which also received consideration but ultimately fell just outside our top five are also included. Team records are through Oct. 13 and unofficial.
