BRIDGER — Roy-Winifred overcame a 24-8 first-quarter deficit to rally past Bridger 42-37 in a key 6-Man South football game on Friday. With the win, the Outlaws improve to 8-0 in the South, setting up a de facto conference championship with Grass Range-Winnett next week.
Roy-Winifred found itself in an early hole Friday, as Colby Zentner helped Bridger to three first-quarter touchdowns. Zentner ran for one and passed for two, one each to Jake Mitzel and Jake Kallevig.
Ryan Russell scored the Outlaws’ lone first-quarter touchdown and added a second score in the second quarter. Riccardo Lonigro brought Roy-Winifred within two points with his rushing touchdown in the second quarter, but Bridger would take a 30-22 lead into halftime after a Rod Zentner TD run.
Roy-Winifred cut back into the lead in the third quarter with a Calvin Rowell touchdown and then took its first lead when Russell scored his second TD — this one on a pass from Tyler Fordyce — of the game. Bridger bounced right back, though, as Mitzel hit Kallevig for a touchdown to give the lead back to the Scouts.
Fordyce found Bryer Schultz for Roy-Winifred’s go-ahead touchdown with less than a minute to play.
