FRENCHTOWN — Dillon scored the go-ahead touchdown in the second quarter and held on for an 18-14 win to hand Frenchtown its first loss of the season on Friday.

The Beavers and Broncs traded scores in the first half, with Dillon taking an early 6-0 lead on an 8-yard touchdown run by Peter Gibson. Frenchtown answered right back, though. Ben Larson took the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, and the Broncs were up 7-6.

Jace Fitzgerald gave the lead back to Dillon moments later with a 3-yard touchdown.

Kade Baker scored on a 15-yard pass to give Frenchtown a 14-12 advantage, but Justus Peterson responded with an 11-yard touchdown run for Dillon. The Beavers took the 18-14 lead into halftime, and the teams played to a scoreless stalemate in the second half.

The Beavers’ defense stood tall in the fourth quarter, forcing a recovering a Frenchtown fumble late in the game to preserve the win.

Dillon improves to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the Southwestern A, while Frenchtown falls to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in conference.
