HIGHWOOD — The Geraldine-Highwood offense was humming on Friday night. The Rivals took down visiting Sunburst 78-43 in a crucial 6-Man North football game.

Geraldine-Highwood ran just six plays in the first quarter but scored on four of them. Brady Duvall opened the scoring finding Bryce Birgenheier for a 21-yard touchdown. Duval capped the scoring in the first quarter with a 54-yard touchdown pass to Mavrick McKinley.

Leading 30-16 after the first quarter, the Rivals’ offense kept clicking. Birgenheier hauled in his second touchdown catch of the day from Duvall to extend the lead to 38-16.

Following another Duvall touchdown pass, Sunburst tailback Michael Buckley scored from 21 yards out to cut the deficit to 46-24. However, Liam Laws returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown. Laws added a 1-yard run before halftime to give Geraldine-Highwood a commanding 62-30 lead at the break.

Duvall tossed his fifth touchdown of the game in the third quarter when he found J.R. Spencer from 7 yards out. Spencer then ripped off a 62-yard run to extend the lead to 78-30 after three quarters.

Duvall threw five touchdowns to three different receivers. Spencer had nine carries for 163 yards and three scores and Laws tallied three touchdowns, too. Buckley had three total touchdowns for Sunburst.

Geraldine-Highwood improves to 6-1 (5-0 6-Man North) and Sunburst drops to 4-3 (4-2).
