Unbeatens Bozeman, Bigfork among No. 1s in MontanaSports.com football polls

Posted

Four weeks into the season only Bozeman remains undefeated on the Class AA football fields. The Hawks handled Butte 48-16 on Friday to move to 4-0, while previously unbeaten Helena High (3-1) lost at Kalispell Glacier (1-3) and Great Falls High (3-1) fell at Billings West (3-1). Bozeman debuts at No. 1 in the 2018 MontanaSports.com football polls.

The Hawks, the unanimous No. 1, travel to two-time defending state champion Billings Senior (3-1) on Thursday night. The Broncs are ranked fifth after their 27-game win streak was snapped Sept. 7 against Helena High.

Billings Central remains a Class A favorite after a 4-0 start. The No. 1 Rams have given up only 14 points this season, while scoring 171 on offense. Hamilton, meanwhile, is No. 2 after the defending runner-up Broncs defeated Columbia Falls earlier this season in a rematch of last year’s state title game. The Wildcats are third in the MontanaSports.com polls.

Bigfork’s 37-0 drubbing of defending Class B champion Eureka launched the Vikings at No. 1 ahead of Fairfield, Roundup and the Lions. Big Timber rounds out the Class B polls.

Defending 8-Man state champion Drummond-Philipsburg tops the polls, while Wibaux is No. 1 on the 6-Man fields.
