Saturday football roundup: Denton-Geyser-Stanford defeats conference foe Power-Dutton-Brady

POWER — Denton-Geyser-Stanford took a step towards the 6-Man playoffs by defeating Power-Dutton-Brady, 30-12, Saturday afternoon in a 6-Man North showdown.

Power-Dutton-Brady got on the board first when Jackson Widhalm scampered into the endzone from inside the 5 yard line. However, the Bearcats took control from there. Dylan Taylor got Denton-Geyser-Stanford on the board in the second quarter by taking a screen pass 64 yards for a score.

On the ensuing possession, the Bearcats forced a fumble deep inside the Titans’ own territory. Zach Solomon scored from 1 yard out to push the Bearcats’ lead to 14-6. In the third quarter, Kyle Lee scored on the ground to make it 22-6. DGS pushed its lead to 30-6 on Jake Solomon’s 20-yard touchdown reception from Taylor.

Denton-Geyser-Stanford improved to 3-1, while Power-Dutton-Brady falls to 2-2.
