HELENA — Billings Senior’s win streak is over.
The Broncs, who entered Friday having won their past 27 games, saw that streak snapped by Helena High, which dominated for a 41-14 win at Vigilante Stadium. Quarterback Ty McGurran had a big game for the Bengals, throwing two touchdown passes to Zachary Spiroff and rushing for one more score.

McGurran and Spiroff got the scoring started with a 35-yard connection early in the second quarter. After the Bengal defense forced a recovered a Senior fumble, Grady Koenig scored on a 1-yard run to give Helena a 14-0 lead late in the second quarter.
The Broncs would take momentum into the break, though, as Julian Federico recorded a huge sack of McGurran, who fumbled the ball as he went to the ground. Senior gained possession at the Helena 5-yard line, and Federico would eventually scored on a 1-yard run with 17 seconds remaining in the half.
Helena dominated most of the second half, though. McGurran dropped a perfectly thrown ball to Spiroff for a 31-yard touchdown, and Logan Brown added a 2-yard scoring run in the third to give Helena a 27-7 lead. Senior’s Matt Plasterer found Oran Nash-Bergen for a 25-yard score early in the fourth, but the Bengals finished off the game with a 6-yard scoring run from McGurran and a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown from Hayden Ferguson.
Helena improves to 2-0 on the season, avenging last year’s loss to Senior in the Class AA state championship. The Broncs fall to 1-1, suffering their first loss since the 2015 championship.
