BILLINGS – Josh Erbacher threw for five touchdowns in his Billings West varsity debut and DeMarcus Carr ran for two more as the Billings West Golden Bears routed Missoula Big Sky 48-13 in the high school opener on Thursday night at Daylis Stadium.

Erbacher wasted no time in making an impression. He hit Jesse Owens on a screen pass and the track star did the rest as he rumbled 62 yards to the house. On the next possession, Erbacher pulled out the perfect play fake and all of the Eagles defenders bit. The result a 33 yard pitch and catch to Owens who was wide open in the end zone.

The Golden Bears did not slow down. An interception by Trevin Gradney led to a score to make it 21-0 and after a blocked punt, DeMarcus Carr scampered right up the gut for another Billings West touchdown.

That set the stage for an early play of the year candidate. Erbacher lofted it up for Owens who climbed the ladder and hauled it in with one hand between two Big Sky defenders. That incredible play made it 35-0 at halftime and Big Sky never threatened in the second half as West rolled to victory number one.
