KALISPELL — With high school winter sports right around the corner, counties around Montana are beginning to release their spectator guidelines for boys and girls basketball, wrestling and swimming.
The Flathead City-County Health Department released its guidelines on Monday detailing how COVID-19 procedures will go during winter sports.
Flathead County is allowed two tickets per "participant in uniform" for both home and away teams at games for basketball and wrestling. No spectators are allowed at swimming events.
Fans are required to wear a mask and must be six feet from others, with families and household units exempt. Visiting teams must provide a list and cell phone numbers of attendees prior to the event.
Spectators may not mingle with coaches, players and other fans before, during or after the event. Gyms are to be cleared after each event and spectators are only allowed to watch contests where they have a participant active. Bands are not allowed during contests and six cheerleaders are allowed with two spectators.
"The 'Flathead County School Winter Activities Guidelines and Procedures for COVID-19 2020-2021 for High School and Middle School Activities,' is a collaborative effort between the Flathead City-County Health Department and the Flathead County Athletic Directors," FCCHD said in a media release. "Please note these guidelines and procedures are subject to review as needed throughout the evolving COVID-19 situation. Additionally, some schools may have increased restrictions based on the capacity limits of their individual facilities."
