HELENA -- The Class AA state golf tournament has been postponed one week after the recent snowfall in north central Montana. Meadowlark Country Club was slated to host the event, which opening tee times originally scheduled for Thursday morning. The invitational will now be Oct. 7-9 at MLCC. The practice round will be held Monday morning, with competition teeing off on Tuesday and concluding Wednesday.
The Montana High School Association executive board approved the schedule change at its meeting on Monday morning.
Bozeman enters the 2019 state invite as the defending team champions, with brothers Justus and Jordan Verge finishing first and second in last year's tournament. Teammate Annnika Danenhauer was the girls champion.
The Verge boys will again be in the hunt, while Danenhauer has since graduated and now attends Montana State University. Billings West's Carrie Carpenter is the Class AA girls favorite after finishing runner-up last fall, just one stroke behind Danenhauer.
The State A golf tournament in Laurel is still scheduled for this Thursday, Oct. 3 and will conclude the following day.
