BELGRADE — Big Timber outscored Rocky Boy 22-5 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 53-38 win in the State B boys basketball consolation final at the Belgrade Special Events Center Friday.
The Herders and Stars won loser-out games Friday morning to advance to the consolation game, where the teams traded blows for the first three quarters. Big Timber led 12-11 after one, and Rocky Boy led 20-18 at halftime and 33-31 at the end of the third quarter. The Stars made just one field goal in the fourth quarter, though, as Big Timber pulled away for the win to claim the third-place trophy.
Kell Schwers had 26 points and Blake Finn added 12 to lead Big Timber in the win. Schwers scored 15 of his points in the second half, making 6 of 8 shots. As a team, the Herders made 12 of their 22 second-half field goal attempts after a cold-shooting first half.
Olin Arkinson led Rocky Boy with 10 points.
