Billings Christian wins NCSAA national basketball title

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Billings Christian Warriors put a cap on a stellar season Saturday, winning the Division 4C title at the National Christian School Athletic Association basketball championships at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

The Warriors beat Finger Lakes Christian out of New York 69-65 in the 4C championship game. Tate Elkin led the way with 25 points while Drew Ouradnik scored 24. Nikola Sasaroga, an exchange student from Serbia, scored 12 and was given the Sportsmanship Award. Finger Lakes was 20-1 entering the game.

Billings Christian opened the tournament Thursday with a 61-57 win over Westlake Christian Academy (Grayslake, Ill.) and beat Lebanon Christian Academy (Lebanon, Pa.) 76-54 in Friday’s semifinals. Lebanon was 22-0 entering the matchup.

The Warriors finished 24-3 on the season, with all three losses coming to Gallatin Valley Homeschool, including in the Montana Christian Athletic Association state championship game last week.
