RONAN — In the Western B boys basketball challenge game it was St. Ignatius Bulldogs taking on the Missoula Loyola Rams.

After tipoff, Loyola quickly showed how badly it wanted to get back to the state tournament. A quick-scoring play from star guard Jack Lincoln set the tone for Loyola to go on a 9-0 run to start the game.

By the end of the first, the Bulldogs pulled within five, but Loyola’s Cooper Waters hit a corner 3-pointer with time expiring to give the Rams an eight-point lead headed into the second.

In the second half, the Rams slowed down offensively, but every time it seemed St. Ignatius had a chance to pull close the Rams would hit an important shot or make a key stop.

In the end, the Loyola boys won big 84-41 and head to the Class B state tournament next week in Belgrade.
