HELENA — The Helena Capital Bruins are getting prepared on the court for the Western AA boys basketball divisional tournament, which starts Thursday in Kalispell, but the feeling of traveling to northwestern Montana won’t be a big shock to their system.

The Bruins made the trip to Kalispell just two weeks prior when they faced the Flathead Braves and the Glacier Wolfpack. Head coach Guy Almquist thinks having both trips come inside the span of month is a beneficial development for his team.

“We handled it just two weeks ago; we went up there and stayed over and kind of went through that drill. It was kind of fortuitous scheduling to have that so close to divisionals. We can just think back to two weeks ago to how well we handled it,” said Almquist. “We played well on the day we traveled, we played well the day after staying overnight, and our kids are confident that we can perform well again.”

The Bruins will get their chance to start the divisional tournament on a strong note when they take on the Flathead Braves on Thursday at 5 p.m.
