Arlee-Twin Bridges challenge game moved to Wednesday; Western B games moved up

Posted

The Western C boys basketball challenge game between Arlee and Twin Bridges has been rescheduled for Wednesday. The game is now set for a 4 p.m. tipoff at Deer Lodge.

Arlee, the two-time defending Class C state champion, was originally slated to play Twin Bridges on Monday in Philipsburg. The Falcons forced a challenge game by defeating Gardiner in the Western C consolation game on Saturday. Arlee lost to Manhattan Christian in the championship. Manhattan Christian will carry an undefeated record and the Western C’s No. 1 seed into next week’s Class C state tournament at Billings.

The Arlee-Twin Bridges challenge game has now twice been postponed from its original Monday scheduling. Administrators first moved it to Tuesday due to inclement weather, and it’s now been moved to Wednesday. The winner will advance to the state tournament, which tips off March 7 at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark.

The Western B also announced changes to its schedule of divisional challenge games, moving the start times up two hours. The Deer Lodge and Missoula Loyola girls will now play at 4 p.m. at Ronan. The St. Ignatius and Missoula Loyola boys are set to follow at 5:30 p.m.

Like the Arlee-Twin Bridges game, the Western B challenge games were originally scheduled for Monday. Inclement weather and hazardous travel postponed the games to Tuesday. The winners of Tuesday’s Western B challenge games will advance to the Class B state tournaments, which will be March 6-9 at Belgrade.

Schedules and scores for the challenge games, as well as this week’s divisional tournaments at the Class C state girls tournament, can be found on the MontanaSports.com High School Scoreboard.
