Helena High boys making changes prior to divisional tournament

HELENA — Following last Saturday’s loss to in-city rival Helena Capital, Helena High head boys basketball coach Brandon Day knew a change needed to be made as the Bengals head into the opening round of the playoffs.

“Tough loss against Capital, but we’re moving on and playing the games that really matter here, come divisional tournament. We just want to make sure we’re doing what we do best and play well defensively and have a little more success on the offensive end,” said Day. “We struggled a little bit the last couple games offensively, so we’re hoping that with some changes, maybe, we can make something happen.”

Though, for Day’s team, their sights aren’t just on the divisional tournament. The Bengals are on the quest for a state tournament bid.

“We made it our goal to make it to state and we believe we can make it to state,” said senior Pierce Brown. “Now we gotta go win a few games and take care of business.”

The Bengals will get their first chance to on Thursday at 2 p.m. against Kalispell Glacier.
