WORDEN – The Plenty Coups Warriors won two very different ways Saturday, but they’ll take both District 6C championships home either way.
The boys jumped out to a 25-5 lead after the first quarter, watched Park City trim the deficit to just seven at halftime, but Plenty Coups held off the Scouts after the break to win, 70-63.
Julian Glenn led the way with 16 points, while Clarence Stewart added 15 and Kevion Ladson scored 13. Park City also had three double-digit scorers – Austin Popp led the way with 18, Garrett McMillen had 17, while Connor McNeil added 12.
The girls, meanwhile, scored fewer points in the entire game than the boys had by halftime. Plenty Coups used a big third quarter to beat Bridger, 28-23, as neither team shot better than 25 percent.
Bridger led 15-13 at the half, but the Warrios outscored the Scouts 13-6 in the third to take control. Both teams scored only two points in a sloppy fourth quarter. Bridger made just six field goals in the game, including going 0 for 13 from the 3-point line. Plenty Coups wasn’t much better, shooting 12 of 47 from the field and 1 of 15 from three.
Kodi Big Lake and Silvie Stewart led the Warriors with six points a piece. Jessica Adkins led Bridger with 10.
All four teams will advance to the Southern C Divisional tournament in Laurel next week, Feb. 20-23.
