WORDEN – The two best teams in the District 6C boys regular season will get a chance to see who’s better once and for all Saturday night.

Park City and Plenty Coups, who each only had one conference loss this year, each won semifinal games Friday night in Worden. Both teams clinched berths in the Southern C divisional tournament and set up a District 6C title game showdown Saturday at Huntley Project High School.

In the first semi, Broadview-Lavina gave Park City all it could handle for three quarters, but the Panthers outscored the Pirates 13-0 in the fourth to pull away for a 53-36 win. Tristen Johnstone led everybody with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while Austin Popp added 12. Cameron Hickson and Aidan Payne each scored 14 for Broadview-Lavina.

Plenty Coups had an easier time in the second semifinal, beating Bridger, 78-38. The Warriors jumped out to an 18-6 lead after the first quarter and steadily built the advantage.

Clarence Stewart led the way with 18, while six other Plenty Coups players scored at least six points.

Plenty Coups beat Park City 63-57 in the teams’ only meeting this year on Jan. 10 at MSU Billings’ Alterowitz Gym. The 6C championship is scheduled to tip at 8:00 p.m.
