What a night it must have been for Big Timber and Joliet fans.
Herder standout guard Kell Schwers and J-Hawk multi-sport star Ry Olson dazzled the crowd in Joliet last Friday evening, combining for 72 points in Big Timber’s 70-58 victory. Schwers poured in 30 points on 10 field goals and seven free throws, while Olson went off for 42 points, 18 from beyond the 3-point line. Olson’s 42 points were the fourth-highest single-game total submitted to MTN Sports this season.
One night later, Colstrip’s Kobee BigBack tied the second-highest mark of the season, scoring 44 points in an 87-63 win over Lame Deer. BigBack hit five 3s and had 23 points at halftime, then dropped 14 more in the final quarter. BigBack’s 44 points are tied with Ennis’ Trevor Swanson, while Wibaux’s Cobe Begger still holds the top-scoring affair of the winter with his 47 points against Jordan back in early January.
The list has also been updated with numerous 30-point performances from Foothills Christian standout Carson Lindseth, who has been averaging nearly 30 points per contest. Lindseth’s season high of 40 points came against the Great Falls Homeschool on Jan. 14.
The girls basketball courts saw a pair of performances that crossed the 30-point threshold — Havre sensation Kyndall Keller scored 31 against Rocky Boy on Jan. 31, then helped secure the Blue Ponies’ second consecutive undefeated regular season at home against Lewistown. The Blue Ponies have won 40 consecutive games. Meanwhile, Arlee’s Alyssia Vanderburg scored 30 points for the Scarlets in a win over St. Ignatius on Jan. 31.
