FAIRFIELD – The Fairfield boys and girls basketball teams hosted Rocky Boy on Thursday in a Class B showdown.
For the girls contest, Fairfield found victory with a 50-30 win. The Eagles were led by junior Kenna Pitcher, who led all scorers with 21 points. Rochelle Pease led the Morning Stars with 11 points. The win brings Fairfield to 6-5 on the season and 4-2 in District 1B play. Rocky Boy drops to 3-8 and 2-4 in conference.
For the boys matchup, Fairfield had a tougher time. It was a one-point game and the Eagles led with 11 seconds left. But the Stars traveled on the inbounds pass, giving the ball back to Fairfield and leading to trips to the free throw line. The Eagles held on to win, 88-83. The win brings Fairfield to 8-2 on the season and 6-0 in conference play. Rocky Boy drops to 7-4 and 3-3 in conference.
