Deer Lodge sweeps Jefferson in class B doubleheader

Posted

DEER LODGE – The Jefferson Panthers and Deer Lodge Wardens met on the hardwood Friday night in Deer Lodge for a boys and girls doubleheader.

First the boys played, and all game long the wardens seem to have things under control. They’re constant variation of going from a 2-3 zone to 1-3-1 zone seemed to fluster Jefferson. Avery Stiles was the only one who had any amount of relevant success against the Warden defense in this game. For Deer Lodge it was the opposite, contributions on both sides of the court from Judd Applegate, Greydon Nicholson, and Ozzie King all made a huge difference in the Wardens securing a double-digit 52-38 win.

Next in the girls game Deer Lodge jumped on the Lady Panther early ending the first quarter up 14-3. Jordan Nicholson, and Mya Wirth propelled Deer Lodge’s early success. Jefferson fought back and made it interesting thanks to great all-around play from Rachel VanBlaricom. In the end the home court advantage and all-around team play gets the Lady Wardens the 42-30 win.
