SHELBY — The Shelby boys and girls basketball teams opened 2019 with a sweep of Choteau in District 1B action on Thursday. The Shelby girls notched a 49-45 win, and the boys followed with a 67-61 win.
GIRLS: Shelby 49, Choteau 45
Maddison Underdal led Shelby with 15 points to help the Coyotes claim a back-and-forth 49-45 win over District 1B rival Choteau on Thursday night.
Christine Funk led all scorers with 26 points for Choteau. Shelby trailed 29-25 at halftime but outscored Choteau 24-16 in the second half.
BOYS: Shelby 67, Choteau 61
Shelby erupted for 24 fourth-quarter points to take down rival Choteau 67-61 at home Thursday night.
Choteau led 43-40 entering the final frame, but Shelby overpowered the Bulldogs behind a team-high 18 points from Tanner Parsons. Choteau senior Sayer Patten led all scorers with 32 points in defeat.
